"Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested."

Hi, and welcome to my site

I created it to provide a 'home' for my various works and interests, along with links to the places some of them hide on the internet, or can be obtained in Ereader or physical formats. As you can no doubt tell - it's new, and I'm in the process of pulling pages together in what feels like a pleasing / accessible format ... so bear with me (or feel free to get in contact and suggest any changes you think might work).

...A little bit about me:

Up until two years ago, I'd spent my entire adult life working for a UK Police Force, where I completed various roles in both uniform and plain clothes. During that career I developed an alter ego I called the 'Scribbler,' and he often wrote down thoughts and feelings in the form of poetry as a release for the daily bump and grind of life. I found the process quite cathartic, and it quickly grew into a 'hobby.' In 2016, I finally plucked up the courage to join a web community called 'All Poetry,' and I've been sharing work online since. That enjoyment ultimately led to my completing a Masters in Creative Writing, which  in turn brought about the ideas sitting at the heart of my current project.

But I'm getting ahead of myself...

In 2021, a month after retiring from the Police, I published The Scribbler Manifesto on Amazon.  It's a short chapbook written in the style of Dr Seuss which provides a taste of that early writing journey and the tenets I now live and work by. Since then (after spending several months on DIY projects I'd put off for entirely too long), I have been mainly focused on researching and writing a series of books, collectively called 'The Sum of our Parts.' The first in that series, 'Ghost in the Machine,' is now available to read as ethier an ebook or paperback and sets the stage for those that follow, when Eric Thorne, a wetware entrepreneur discovers the ability to digitally save a copy of the human consciousness: big business and governments want to steal it, others want the technology destroyed and buried. I've include some tasters in the 'writing' section if you're interested.

Alongside the novel writing though, I continue to enjoy poetry, and am in the process of editing a collection I've called 'in plain sight' for publication some time this month. The collection contains thirty five poems, along with some illustrations and observations, created over the last six years about things that have affected my everyday life. I personally think it's worth a read.

I will include links to all my published work (and the sites I use) for those who'd like to explore further.

Finally, it goes without saying, but please feel free to get in touch with any observations, suggestions or requests. I love hearing from fellow enthusiasts of poetry and sci-fi / cyberpunk fiction.

Oh, and for any that are interested, the quote on my Home Page is from Francis Bacon.

Best wishes,

Marcus
